These 4 PS Smooth Side 12 Bedroom Sleepers were delivered to Southern Pacific in July '50. Two cars, Golden Orange (later #9402) and Golden Poppy (later #9403), were used on the "Golden State" and were painted red and silver. The other two, #9400 and #9401, were used on the "Cascade" and were painted two-tone gray. Amtrak got all 4 cars in '70, and 2 survived into private ownership later.
