These twelve PS 8 Roomette/6 Double Bedroom cars were delivered to Rock Island in '54 for use on the "Golden State," "Rocky Mountain Rocket," and "Twin Star Rocket."  They had PS Phase II fluting, fixed vestibule stairs, and were all-stainless construction as opposed to the usual Cor-Ten steel.  Five of the cars had "Golden State" on the letterboard.  The rest had "Rock Island. All twelve were sold to Amtrak in '72.
